Special Effects on Cards

Warsong: You may move to any Location. 1 Attack (at the bottom of the card) accompanies all three copies of “Warsong.” So, Valkyrie can move to any Location and then use her 1 Attack or use her 1 Attack and move to any Location.

This is a nice ability. Without it, Valkyrie would be as immobile as Korg. With it, she may equal Thor and Beta Ray Bill for their excellent movement. The ability to choose when to move to any Location is great. Valkyrie can dole out extra Attack or Heroics, depending on what card the player before her plays.

Overall

Valkyrie delivers a lot of damage. Her “Warsong” ability also makes up for low Move. But she still doesn’t have a lot of Heroics in her deck. She’s best served with teammates who can make up for that shortcoming or she battles a villain with who requires a lot of Attack. Henchmen heavy villains (like Red Skull), villains with a lot of health (Killmonger), and villains who place a lot of thug tokens (like Ultron) can be good options.

Good Teammates

The Heroes who accompany Valkyrie in the Tales of Asgard expansion (Thor, Beta Ray Bill, and Korg) also tend to have a lot of Attack. They aren’t horrible options, but you may be best served pairing Valkyrie with someone from the core set like Captain America, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, or Iron Man.
