Special Effects on Cards

1) Web: If you are in the same Location as the Villain, delay the next Villain Turn by one card.
“Web” is another interesting ability from the Enter the Spider-Verse Heroes. Miles can delay the Villain turn by one card, meaning that if the villain turn were to occur after three Hero cards, it will take four Hero cards. Or if the Villain is under pressure (one mission completed), it will take three Hero cards instead of two.

This effect can buy time for the Heroes if the Villain is under pressure. It can also turn the tide and afford the Heroes the possibility to finish multiple missions. Many of the Enter the Spider-Verse Heroes have abilities that can affect the flow of combat and that’s welcome.

2) Invisibility: You cannot take any damage until the beginning of your next turn.
“Invisibility” is like Ghost-Spider’s “Webdancer” ability. Damage can come from a lot of different sources in between turns and it’s a nice ability to have.

3) Venom Strike: Two Attack against a single enemy in your Location.

One Attack accompanies “Venom Strike.” Miles can choose to use his ability (two Attack on one target) and then use his symbols (at least one Attack on another target) or use his symbols and then his ability.

Overview

Miles Morales has a lot of Heroics and Attack with a decent number of Wild symbols, so he has versatility with the Villains he can face. It doesn’t matter if a Villain features henchmen and has a lot of health or has Threat cards (that require Heroics) and floods the field with Civilians. That’s great. But he’s the slowest of all Heroes in Enter the Spider-Verse. He’ll need someone with great movement.

Good Teammates

Miles needs Move. Fortunately, there are a couple of options in the Enter the Spider-Verse expansion: Ghost-Spider and Spider-Man. It’s also thematic to have the three of them team up against a foe. But there are some options in the core set as well. Hulk and especially Wasp make good teammates.
